“Things to Remember in December”

December is often filled with so much to do–holiday shopping, concerts, attending parties, thinking about what you’ll wear to those parties? Of course, all of this is exciting and fun, right? It can also cost you. Here are a few ways to be happy during the holidays and to keep you financially sound as well.

List Build for Your Holiday Shopping

Before you leave home to do your holiday shopping, pull out a piece of paper and write down all the names of the people you’ll be buying gifts for this year, then next to each name, write the amount you have decided to spend on him/her. What you decide to spend on each individual should only be what you can afford to spend.

If you’re having a difficult time deciding what you want to spend on each person, you might find it helpful to determine first what you want to spend in total for holiday gifts. Once you have decided on this amount, allocate appropriately what you wish to spend on each individual. The only time you’ll spend more on someone on your list, is if you actually spend less on someone else because you found the item on sale or for More >

“10 Quick and Easy Ways to Save Money Now”

Do you want more money?  There are many quick and easy ways to have more money in your life.  Here are ten of them.  Any combination of these simple ways to save will make a difference in your financial life, and you can start any time!

  1. Only Print What You Need:  Printing every document you create or every e-mail attachment will mean that you’ll use a lot of toner and that gets expensive.  Decide which documents you really need and print only those.  You’ll save big!
  2. Unplug When You’re Done:  When you have finished charging portable communication devices like cell phones, and I-pods, be sure to unplug them. You’re still using energy if these household items are plugged in when your not actually using them, and this really adds up over time.  For your computers, they are a big power user, so when you have finished for the evening, be sure to shut it down.  Unplugging it will even save you more!
  3. Turn the Lights Out and the Television Off When You Leave the Room:  Leaving the lights and television on when you don’t need them will not benefit you financially.  Also, connecting your television to a switch outlet will eliminate wasted energy More >

“What is Your Money Story?”

Your money story is a compilation of all your financial experiences throughout your life, and you may sometimes share your money story or a part of it with others. I met with a gentleman last week and in the first few minutes of our conversation, he said, “I’m not good with money.” Of course he isn’t! This is the money story he has created for himself. He has convinced himself, through whatever experiences he felt didn’t go well, that he isn’t to be trusted with money, and so he continues to give his money story credibility by making the same financial decisions that created the story in the first place.

I’m so glad he has taken the first step, and I’m looking forward to helping him change his money story to one that brings him to the financial success he deserves!

Our money story begins in childhood and is created by what we hear our parents say and how we see them interact with money (spending, saving, talking). Did your parents struggle with money? Are you now struggling with money too? Have you struggled for so long that you think it’s just the way life is and that your financial life More >

“Financial Peace = Peaceful Sleep”

Our bodies need at least seven hours of sleep a night, says Dr. Mehmet Oz. Some people may need a little more or a little less. Whatever amount of sleep you know you need, are you getting it? If not, what is keeping you up at night? Let me guess, your thoughts. What do you find yourself thinking about? Are you, perhaps, worried about your money situation?

Whenever we are worried or distracted by something, it takes up extra energy, and it actually adds to our already low energy. Do you find yourself wanting to change your money situation but every time you try, you end up back at the same place you started?

You CAN have financial peace in your life. I know because I have it and because I have clients who have financial peace in their life too. It’s as a result of their investing in their financial life. Here are some of the things my clients have said after investing in their financial life:

I sleep so much better at night. My relationship with my husband is stronger. We spend more family time together now. I feel like my financial life is simple and less stressful. I didn’t need all that More >

No More Money Excuses

I’ve heard every excuse in the book as to why people decide not to focus on their financial life and make it better—mostly I hear that people are just too busy.  Here’s the truth.  Everyone is busy!  When there is something that you really want, you find the time to do it, right?  Okay, so you might be saying that you really don’t want to focus on your financial life, but that you do really want your financial life to look different?

Do you know what might happen if you decide not to make changes in your financial life?  Do you know what would happen if you decide to make changes in your financial life?

Depending on the decision you make, will determine your outcome.  What’s great is that you get to choose which financial path you want to travel on.

Honestly, there are things I don’t like doing either, like filing, cleaning the stove, folding laundry and my list goes on.  I do know that I like the feeling of getting it done rather than leaving it for another day, an undefined, who-knows when day, and I feel successful when those things are completed.

When you procrastinate and make excuses for not paying attention More >

Freeing Yourself from Credit Card Debt

Do you worry about your ever-mounting credit card debt?  Do you ever wonder how great you would feel if you didn’t have that debt on your shoulders to carry around every day?  That’s a huge burden, and what is it really costing you?  Quite possibly it might be costing you your health, distraction from living in the moment, and peace of mind.

What if you could live within your means every month, and maybe even have more money at the end of the month.  How do you think you would feel?  Maybe fabulous and free!!

First, it’s important to admit there is a problem instead of avoiding.  Avoidance never takes you to where you want to go.  It’s only temporary relief. And, here’s the scoop on problems.  They are not some horrible thing.  Problems are merely an opportunity to make change and to figure out a way to fix it, and when you do the fixing (eliminating your credit card debt), you’ll be left feeling successful and without any more debt!!

Once you decide that you’re ready to free yourself from your credit card debt, here are some actions you can take to say goodbye to that debt forever:

Four Reasons to Create a Great Relationship with Money

Money is an integral part of how we survive from day to day. Doesn’t it make sense to have a great relationship with money? It’s going to be a part of your life for as long as you are here on earth. What does your relationship with money look like?

If you have an unhealthy relationship with money, it might look like this—bills get paid late which results in giving more of it away in late fees and interest, money goes from your pocket to lying around somewhere in the house, you spend it when you can’t afford to, you keep your money crumpled up in your wallet, you say bad things about money like, ‘it’s only money.’ Financial success starts with your relationship with money. Here are four reasons to have a great relationship with money in your life:

1. To live a life of financial peace. When you have a healthy and respectful relationship with money (paying your bills on time, spending money you can afford, creating a Money Plan), you’ll feel less stress and worry in your life. Instead of being preoccupied with money worries, you’ll be focused on living your life with more joy! I’ve seen clients go More >

Listening to Your Inner Money Voice

When you spend money, do you hear a voice saying to you, “I shouldn’t really be buying this,” or “How am I going to pay for this?”  Maybe you hear no voice at all.  Is it so buried that you wouldn’t even hear it if were screaming at you?

Recently, I happened to be at the same event, and at the same table, as one of my clients that I had just begun working with.  Another woman at the table had brought some beautiful watches with multi-colored bands and was selling them.  My client saw those watches and immediately went in like a vulture, grabbing its prey. It was clear that her money voice had been shut off and given no chance to speak.  I asked her at our next appointment what she was thinking when she initially saw the watches.  She told me that she couldn’t help buying the watch when she saw that it was pink!  I knew then that we had some work to do!

Here are three questions to ask yourself before you make your next purchase or find yourself in an unexpected situation where there are pretty things!
